At this time the hospital had fourteen wards open but was threatened
with closure for many years.
Regrettably I left for a safer work situation, as I was a single mum
to two teenage daughters. The following year I was elected on to East
Dorset District Council and was the member for St Leonards East Ward,
where the hospital was situated.
I continued to support the hospital
from a distance for four years. During the next twelve years, I was
re elected as District and County Councillor for Wimborne, plus a governor
for Dorset Healthcare University Trust and I am still watching over
St Leonard’s League of Friends
