Marilyn Osner

During the 1950s I worked at St Leonards as a nursing auxiliary and later a ward clerk.

At this time the hospital had fourteen wards open but was threatened with closure for many years.

Regrettably I left for a safer work situation, as I was a single mum to two teenage daughters. The following year I was elected on to East Dorset District Council and was the member for St Leonards East Ward, where the hospital was situated.

I continued to support the hospital from a distance for four years. During the next twelve years, I was re elected as District and County Councillor for Wimborne, plus a governor for Dorset Healthcare University Trust and I am still watching over St Leonard’s League of Friends
