Welcome to the Friends of St Leonards Hospital Official Website!

I am so sorry that I have not written this before, but I have found it very hard to put words to paper. It is with great sadness that we have lost our fight to keep our beloved Hospital, St Leonard's.

We have been told this will not happen for about twelve months, but we will keep you informed on here as we find out.more. This Hospital in our opinion is one of the best, from my own experience of staying in most local and private hospitals, the care here is beyond amazing.

The staff led by Helen Hunt (Matron) are always happy and are great team players, nothing is too much trouble. Most of the friends have got involved because we have had family in this hospital and also worked in this hospital and have loved it so much we wanted to help. The staff are always so appreciative of what we do here, that it is a pleasure to do it. They support us 100% which makes this even harder to come to terms with.

We have fought a long and hard battle to stay open and I am sure closing this hospital is a big mistake. But all members of the committee are dedicated to see this through and to continue to help the public and doctors locally for some time to come. We feel that you will need us even more in the weeks to come.

We would like to thank all the staff and the public for your support since last year when the battle began, We would also like to thank Mr Christopher Chop MP for a hard campaign locally and in Parliament and he is still working with us to make sure we get the right care in place. Councillor Peter Oggelsby our local Councillor here in Ferndown for all his help as he did a great job of lobbying for us and was the only one!

Last but not least, to the Committee of the St Leonard's Hospital League of Friends, thank you all for the hard work, all the fund raising I have told you so many times before that you are the best committee I have ever had the pleasure and honer to chair you are all amazing and here is to a few more years of working together. x x

Thank you

The Chairman,

The St Leonard's Hospital League of Friends
